Lordsburg, NM to Silver City, NM

Today was only a 47 miles but there was a lot of climbing. We crossed the continental divide. So far on the trip I have ridden 660 miles and I have a total of 1,897 for the year. I definitely think I will be over the 5,000 mile mark for the year.

As I left Lordsburg this morning I passed this signer on the road. Thought it was interesting.

This was an interesting plant I saw along the road.

Proof I made it to the continental divide.

Several of us arrived in Silver City pretty close to each other. (Marcie, Lois B, Marnie, Michele and I) We decided it was to early to check in our hotel so we rode into town to have lunch. Michele recommended a restaurant called Vicki's. We set outside on the patio and had lunch. From where I sat I could see this art work. Thought it was cute.

I am really tired, both physically and emotionally. I called Greg today and told him to come pick me up I was done. He said NO. I had trained for a year and a half for this and I was going to complete it. He told me to go down to the trailer have a glass of wine and visit with some of the women. Well it worked. I learned that a lot of women were feeling this way and it was just natural. Tomorrow is a rest day and Lois S and I are going in town for lunch and to get more screws for my cleats. I lost 3 screws today and when I stopped I could not get my shoe out of the pedal. Not good. Well relaxing tomorrow should help everything.

Patty, You have just finished an eight day run and you are certainly bound to be tired, both physically and mentally. Take the day off and enjoy yourself in Silver City. Think only of one day at a time. You can do it. Yes, there are hard days, past and to come, but you have the strength to do it. Every day you will find yourself getting stronger. Stick with it! You will be glad you did.

Patty, I was going to give you some encouragement but Anne said it all so well... Especially that you get stronger by the day... And your day off will really help too. Hang in there..... It sure was great meeting you all in Safford!

You don't know me but what you're doing is GREAT! If you have transportation, try to see the cliff dwellings on your day off. The drive is beautiful as is the history of the dwellings. Amazing!

Keep up the good work. I've done what you're doing and there are good days and bad days as there are good hours and bad hours.

You're doing great! You have good days (even good hours) and bad days (bad hours as well)....keep up the good work.

While you're in Silver City, a drive to the Cliff Dwellings is beautiful and the cliff dwellings are amazing! Quite worth it.

I've done what you're doing...keep up the good work!

Patty, glad to see that you are feeling better today. Keep putting one foot in fron of the other as you pedal the miles and you will be in Texas before you know it. We will be waiting to see you when you get here. genie

I would have folded a LONG time ago! You are tough! And it must have been very difficult for Greg to hear how frustrated and exhausted you were and still say NO! Good for him! (And you will thank him later!)
You are doing great! Have a nice rest day!
